Testing task: Navigate to an unchecked checkbox in reading mode

With JAWS in reading mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "Navigate to the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the unchecked state."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window
  3. Verify the Virtual Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, exit Forms Mode to activate the Virtual Cursor by pressing Escape.
  4. Navigate to the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the unchecked state.
  5. Using the following commands, Navigate to the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the unchecked state.
    • X / Shift+X
    • F / Shift+F
    • Tab / Shift+Tab
    • Up Arrow / Down Arrow
    • Left Arrow / Right Arrow (with Smart Navigation on)

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role 'checkbox' is conveyed
  2. Name 'Lettuce' is conveyed
  3. State of the checkbox (not checked) is conveyed
