Testing task: Read a checked checkbox

Describe how VoiceOver for macOS behaves when performing task "When the focus is on the first checkbox, read the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the checked state."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for VoiceOver for macOS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on the first checkbox and sets its state to checked.
  3. Toggle Quick Nav OFF by pressing the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys at the same time.
  4. When the focus is on the first checkbox, read the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the checked state.
  5. Using the following commands, When the focus is on the first checkbox, read the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the checked state.
    • Control+Option+F3
    • Control+Option+F4

Success Criteria

To pass this test, VoiceOver for macOS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role 'checkbox' is conveyed
  2. Name 'Lettuce' is conveyed
  3. State of the checkbox (checked) is conveyed
