Testing task: Open a collapsed select-only combobox

Describe how VoiceOver for macOS behaves when performing task "With focus on the combobox, open the combobox."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for VoiceOver for macOS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on the combobox.
  3. Toggle Quick Nav OFF by pressing the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys at the same time.
  4. With focus on the combobox, open the combobox.
  5. Using the following commands, With focus on the combobox, open the combobox.
    • Control+Option+Space
    • Down Arrow
    • Option+Down
    • Up Arrow
    • Enter
    • Space

Success Criteria

To pass this test, VoiceOver for macOS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. State of the combobox (expanded) is conveyed
  2. Role of the popup ('listbox') is conveyed
  3. Name of the popup ('Favorite Fruit') is conveyed
  4. Text of the focused option in the popup ('Choose a Fruit') is conveyed
  5. State of the focused option in the popup (selected) is not conveyed
  6. Position of the focused option in the popup (1) is conveyed
  7. Number of options in the popup (13) is conveyed
