Testing task: Navigate to an item in a menu by typing a character in interaction mode

With JAWS in interaction mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "With focus on the 'W3C Home Page' menu item, type a character to navigate to a different menu item."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that opens the menu, and sets focus on 'W3C Home Page'.
  3. Verify the PC Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, turn off the Virtual Cursor by pressing Insert+Z.
  4. With focus on the 'W3C Home Page' menu item, type a character to navigate to a different menu item.
