Testing task: Navigate to menubar with commands that switch mode from reading to interaction

With NVDA in reading mode, describe how NVDA behaves when performing task "Navigate to the 'Text Formatting' menubar"

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for NVDA. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on a link just before the menubar.
  3. Ensure NVDA is in browse mode by pressing Escape. Note: This command has no effect if NVDA is already in browse mode.
  4. Navigate to the 'Text Formatting' menubar
  5. Using the following commands, Navigate to the 'Text Formatting' menubar
    • Tab

Success Criteria

To pass this test, NVDA needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Change of mode from reading to interaction is conveyed
  2. The role 'menubar' is conveyed
  3. The menubar name 'Text Formatting' is conveyed
  4. The menu item name "Font" is conveyed
  5. Availability of a submenu is conveyed
  6. The position of the item and number of items in the menubar are conveyed
