Testing task: Navigate to menubar in interaction mode

With JAWS in interaction mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "Navigate to the 'Text Formatting' menubar"

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on a link just before the menubar.
  3. Verify the PC Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, turn off the Virtual Cursor by pressing Insert+Z.
  4. Navigate to the 'Text Formatting' menubar
  5. Using the following commands, Navigate to the 'Text Formatting' menubar
    • Tab

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. The role 'menubar' is conveyed
  2. The menubar name 'Text Formatting' is conveyed
  3. The menu item name "Font" is conveyed
  4. Availability of a submenu is conveyed
  5. The position of the item and number of items in the menubar are conveyed
