Testing task: Read menu item in interaction mode

With NVDA in interaction mode, describe how NVDA behaves when performing task "Read the 'Size' menu item in the menubar"

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for NVDA. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on the 'Size' menu item.
  3. If NVDA did not make the focus mode sound when the test page loaded, press Insert+Space to turn focus mode on.
  4. Read the 'Size' menu item in the menubar
  5. Using the following commands, Read the 'Size' menu item in the menubar
    • Insert+Tab
    • Insert+Numpad 5 (or CapsLock+Numpad 5)

Success Criteria

To pass this test, NVDA needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. The name 'Size' is conveyed
  2. Availability of a submenu is conveyed
  3. Closed state of the submenu is conveyed
  4. The position of the item and number of items in the menubar are conveyed
  5. The role 'menu item' is conveyed
