Testing task: Move focus backwards into a grid in reading mode

With JAWS in reading mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "Move keyboard focus onto the first non-header cell in the grid."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on a link after the grid.
  3. Verify the Virtual Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, exit Forms Mode to activate the Virtual Cursor by pressing Escape.
  4. Move keyboard focus onto the first non-header cell in the grid.
  5. Using the following commands, Move keyboard focus onto the first non-header cell in the grid.
    • Shift+Tab

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role 'grid' is conveyed
  2. Name 'Transactions January 1 through January 6' is conveyed
  3. Number of columns (5) is conveyed
  4. Number of rows (7) is conveyed
  5. Text of the first column header ('Date') is conveyed
  6. Text of the first cell ('01-Jan-16') is conveyed
  7. coordinates of the first cell (column 1, row 2) are conveyed
