Testing task: Read information about a switch in the on state in reading mode

With JAWS in reading mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "With the reading cursor on the 'Notifications' switch, read information about the switch."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on the 'Notifications' switch, and sets its state to 'on'.
  3. Verify the Virtual Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, exit Forms Mode to activate the Virtual Cursor by pressing Escape.
  4. With the reading cursor on the 'Notifications' switch, read information about the switch.
  5. Using the following commands, With the reading cursor on the 'Notifications' switch, read information about the switch.
    • Insert+Tab
    • Insert+Up

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role 'switch' is conveyed
  2. Name 'Notifications' is conveyed
  3. State 'on' is conveyed
